This can then lead to problems on the taxiways as vehicle separation on the taxiways seems to fail if the aircraft are already close together as the enter the taxiway from the runway. While the game provides aircraft separation on taxiways, this doesn't work on runways, allowing aircraft to overrun each other. While the result is more realistic, there are still some limitations caused by the way Cities Skylines separates aircraft. So I thought I would share the result in a video. All aircraft use aircraft types and liveries common in Australia. Regional jets like the EMB195 use the least, large jets like the 747, 777 use the most runway and medium airliners like 717, 737 & A320 are somewhere in the middle. Also different aircraft sizes use different amounts of runway length for their takeoff. The airport has 5 active gates, 2 parallel active taxiways, 2 parallel runways (1 for landing and another for take off). It took surprisingly few of them to create a more realistic airport, but a lot of time and effort to find the right ones and then use them the right way to give a most realistic results. So I decided to see if I could build my own more realistic airport, using the mods and assets freely available in the workshop.

Also while there are a lot of custom airports in the workshop, none gave me what I wanted. Custom aircraft for the workshop made region specific liveries and aircraft type variation possible, but large and small aircraft all used the same amount of runway and the standard aircraft that also showed up sucked. As a flightsim junkie I always wanted more realistic airports. I was always disappointed with the standard airports and aircraft in Cities Skylines.
